Radiofrequency ablation of liver tumours.

Dr. Kormann and colleagues have reviewed the literature on the use of radiofrequency ablation in treating liver cancer. Most reports agree on both the simplicity and utility of this procedure in achieving tumor ablation and in improving survival in otherwise inoperative patients. RFA is a safe and effective way to treat patients who otherwise would be send home to die. That it can be done without the transfusion requirements of extensive liver surgery is a plus.
