Effects of normovolaemic haemodilution on middle cerebral artery blood flow velocity and oxygen delivery.
This experimental study showed that acute isovolemic hemodilution to a hematocrit of 20% resulted in a decreased oxygen delivery to the brain as the increase in cerebral blood flow did not fully compensate for the decrease in arterial oxygen content.
