Treatment of life-threatening post-haemorrhagic anaemia with cell-free haemoglobin solution in an adolescent Jehovah’s Witness.

This case report describes the successful use of a purified human cell-free hemoglobin solution (Hemolink(R)) in combination with erythropoietin, iron, vitamin B12 and folic acid in the management of profound acute anemia (nadir hemoglobin of 2.6 g/dL) in a 14-year-old female Jehovah’s Witness with severe immune thrombocytopenia.
