Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI) following allogeneic stem cell transplant for acute myeloid leukemia.
The headline is misleading because TRALI was caused by a platelet concentrate. The main message is that because of a wide differential diagnosis for pulmonary infiltrates after allogeneic stem cell transplantion, TRALI may be underrecognized. TRALI belongs to the main complications of transfusion with a rather high lethality (5-10%).
