The authors conducted a systematic review of plasma transfusion in common clinical settings. Plasma transfusion was beneficial only in the setting of massive transfusion. However, the underlying evidence was of very low quality. As expected, in other settings, plasma transfusion tended to INCREASE mortality and the risk of TRALI. Only randomized controlled trials will be able to definitely determine the benefits and harms of plasma transfusion in different clinical settings.
