NATA Review

The authors conducted an experimental study in rat traumatic brain injury showing that colloids lead to lesser brain edema. The study was well conducted but, obviously, clinical studies are needed in order to evaluate the potential for clinical practice. Numerous experimental studies, with varying results, have already been performed in variously injured rats. Perhaps the accompaying editorial by Dr. Drummond, in the same issue of the journal, is more clinically relevant to introduce the reader to the subject.
