Posterior spinal fusion in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis with or without intraoperative cell salvage system: a retrospective comparison.

This study confirms the blood saving capacity of cell salvage in posterior spinal fusion. The authors only give the mean amount of transfused blood so it is unclear if the transfusion rate also decreased. The authors used the same transfusion trigger for autologous and allogeneic blood, and thus missed a major advantage of cell salvage: a real treatment of anemia.
