The authors assessed the use of 1 g tranexamic acid (TA) versus placebo in elective cesarean section in 223 women. The endpoint was the perioperative fall in hemoglobin, which was less in those receiving TA: Hb difference 1.11 ± 0.62 g/dL in those who received TA versus 1.27 ± 0.66 g/dL in the controls (p = 0.034). No adverse effects were seen. However, the study design was imperfect.
