NATA Review

The authors conducted an international laboratory check survey for accuracy of determining platelet counts in thrombocytopenic patients (from 6.3 to 53 x 10(9)/L) and found significant variability in results. They conclude that this inaccuracy might have a significant impact on under- and overtransfusion of platelet concentrates to patients.
