This paper looks at the recurrent VTE rate in women who had VTE during pregnancy. As with all data from observational registries, one is left with more questions than answers. Pregnant women accounted for only 607 of a 46 000+ registry and after pregnancy there was a two-year recurrence rate of 3.3% altough we dont know if these recurrences were provoked or unprovoked. Those that had thromblysis and/or IVC filters had a signficantly higher risk of recurrence than those without. As expected in those who were tested, a recognised thrombophila was present in 30% of the women.
