Dr. Jeffrey Carson is Distinguished Professor of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Provost at Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences. The focus of Dr. Carson's research is determining the risk of anemia and indications for red blood cell blood transfusion.

He is the lead author on the Red Blood Cell Transfusion 2023 AABB International Guidelines published in JAMA and the principal investigator of the MINT trial which compared restrictive or liberal transfusion strategy in myocardial infarction and anemia published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
