Biography

Dr Caroline Evans is a consultant cardiothoracic anaesthetist/intensivist The University Hospital of Wales. She is also the Deputy Director of Secondary Care in Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) which supports the education and training of all doctors in all specialties in Wales. Caroline developed the first cardiothoracic anaemia investigation and treatment pathway in the UK and has contributed as a Principal investigator to the UK CAVIAR study and the current ITACS trials. Caroline is the anaemia lead for the Welsh Blood service and has led on the development of a National Pathway for the management of preoperative anaemia and iron deficiency. She is the proud owner of 3 teenagers and 4 Beagles.
