Giovanni Inghilleri, MD, is director of the Department of Immunohematology and Transfusion Medicine of the Healthcare Public Body Bergamo Est (Seriate, Bergamo – Italy) consisting of a system of 5 transfusion services located in the area hospitals.
Dr Inghilleri earned his medical degree with honors from University of Milan, the postgraduate degree in Immunohematology from the University of Ferrara and two Masters in “Health Management”.
Since the beginning of his professional activity Dr Inghilleri has been deeply involved in the study and application of the strategies to reduce the utilization of blood transfusion, thus joining, in the last decade, the Patient Blood Management approach. He published over 150 articles in national and international magazines on these topics during his career.
He currently serves on the scientific board of the Network for Advancement of Transfusion Alternatives. He is a member of the Italian Society of Transfusion Medicine (SIMTI), the Lombardy Regional Coordinator of the Italian Society of Haemapheresis (SIdEM), where he has served on the Board of Directors from 2016 to 2018, a Co-founder and Vice-President of ANEMO scientific association and Adjunct Professor at the faculty of Master in PBM, Sapienza University in Rome.
