Dr Sue Pavord is a Consultant Haematologist at Oxford University Hospitals, Associate Senior Lecturer in Medicine, a fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists and Royal College of Physicians and Vice President of the British Society for Haematology.
She specialises in all aspects of non-neoplastic haematology, including patient blood management. In Oxford she recently established a successful community-based multidisciplinary iron management service.
She has been a key player in the development of Obstetric Haematology as a subspecialty, co-founding the UK Obstetric Haematology Special Interest Group and editing the leading textbook in the field – The Pavord Hunt Obstetric Haematology Manual.
She runs an international course on haematology in obstetrics, has published widely and authored national and international guidelines, Cochrane reviews and consensus documents.
Her UK guideline on the management of maternal anaemia highlights her pragmatic and anticipatory approach to patient care.
