Jackie Thomson

Dr Jackie Thomson is a clinical haematologist whose main area of interest is the treatment of blood disorders/malignancies. She is an expert in bone marrow transplantation and stem cell transplantation. She is the first Transplant Program Director in Africa to be recognised by the European Bone Marrow Transplant Society by obtaining JACIE accreditation. She is passionate about improving patient outcomes and does so by following best practices and implementing quality systems of international standards. She was the Medical Director of the South African National Blood Service where her focus was on Patient Blood Management implementation as a new quality standard of care for transfusion medicine in South Africa.
